Blowing off dust...

Hello!

I'm back for more. These last couple of years have been a writing dearth for me. But, but, BUT, I'm coming off a really good writing month in October (nearly 30,000 words!) and I'm gearing up for NaNoWriMo in November. I'm even, for the first time, pushing myself out the door to go to some of the write-ins my local chapter of NaNoWriMo is doing.

So hopefully, I'll do well! I'm thinking I'm finally going to tackle the original idea I had ages ago and have been tossing around ever since.

I'm also hoping (on the side) to keep up with my momentum on my other story that is fanfic related so I can finish it before I run out of chapters to post. Heh.

I'm right in the middle of a 90,000/90 day challenge with some fellow authors---to write 90,000 words between October 1 and December 31st. Almost 30,000 words done so far! Whoo-hoo!

I'll try to get over here and post word totals as I go along. :) Let me know if you're participating this year and have a blog somewhere. I'll link you! :)

Unfortunately, life has kind of gotten away from me this time.

I think I've written about 10,000 words this month, some original, some fanfic. So--better than I thought, anyway.

But there isn't any way I'll get to 50,000 by Monday night.

Maybe next year, I'll have more enthusiasm for it!!

Day 2 Continued!

1689 is my total for today for my original story.

So I'm up to 3369 for the original story and 2609 for Secret of the Mansion.

Not too shabby for two days' work.

Although I really am going to have to get more...I don't know. Something between my two main characters to make them less vanilla. Bah. *G*

Day 2

Slow goings so far!

I contracted with myself to get 6 pages of the Secret of the Mansion done each day. I did 9 pages yesterday, which left me with only 3 to do today, 1 3/4 of which involves Trixie without Jim and Honey, so I didn't have too much writing to do there. *grin*

So, total word count for Mansion today: 576

I have done about 400 words so far of my original story. I'm trying to drum up enthusiasm for writing more. The 400 words have mainly been rewrites and additions into the part I wrote yesterday.

I have a plot, but I'm just trying to get it moving.

Okay. Just did some exercising. I figure--perhaps if I do a little physical, it'll help stir the mental.

One can only hope, eh?

Day 1 - Continued!

Hurrah! I managed to make myself churn out 1680 words on my non-fanfic story. I have some characters who intrigue me, so that's good. They're agents, recruited to help solve the murder of their beloved superior. And, of course, they have a past romantic history between them that may cause them problems. *G*

This story is what I'm actually "counting" for my total. I'm just trying to drag Secret of the Mansion along the way.

But my, that was hard to get those words out. I'm so distractable!

1680 down, though! A good first day!

And so it begins!!

We're back to November and another month of madcap writing!

I am going to make myself insane by trying to finish my Secret of the Mansion story AND write a fresh new story that isn't Trixie fanfic. (Yes, I'm crazy.)

I do have a lot of days in November off--including the weekends and Thanksgiving and taking 3 1/2 days of vacation--so I'm hoping that will help me accomplish this crazy quest.

To get myself pumped for writing, I figured I'd start with my Secret of the Mansion assignment. Based on what I have left of the story to tell, I need to get through about six pages of the book each day. That, of course, might be easier some days than others, depending on how many "other" scenes take place outside of Trixie's POV.

But I forged forward for the last hour and 45 minutes, and I now have Chapter 7 done. More than 6 pages, but I was pretty close to the end of the chapter, so I figured I'd just finish it.

So...Day 1...Secret of the Mansion - 2033 words!

Now a break for lunch and then hopefully, I can get to work on the first segment of my non-fanfic story.

Yay for NaNoWriMo! :)

Whew!

So...I don't check this blog but every once in a great, great while when it's not November.

And I went into it this weekend and found that I had something like 2500+ spam comments! Lovely!

I've closed out the comments of all the old entries and deleted all the spam comments, which took forever since I had to check off each one individually. *sigh*

But I'm all clean and ready for 2009! Now just to figure out what to write!

Over again for another year (more or less)

Just cleaning up things in my blogs today. :) I made it with the 50,000 K all in one story this year! Hurrah!

Now to up the goal for next year to non-fanfic. *G* We'll see what happens!

I done did it!

So...after I posted here yesterday, I wrote a little more, making my day's total 42107.

Then, today, I went to work again, determined to try to finish (I have a lot of other stuff to do tomorrow).

And I did! I'm currently at 50,506!

Of course, I'm only about half way through the story (which tells you how long I think this story is going to be. Eeep.), but it's going along well and has grown and developed from the rough plot I started at the beginning of the month.

I'm really excited and pleased to see it happen.

I'm hoping that my learning curve on doing this for fanfic will help me when I'm working in 2009 on non-fanfic stuff.

I sure hope, anyway!

So, 50,506 words and 7 1/2 chapters (plus a short prologue) all done!

My goal is to finish the remainder of the story in time so I can begin posting it on the date the story actually starts--December 23rd. :)

So, I need to keep up the momentum!

Even if I won't have 4 days off of work in a row to do it for a very long while. *G*

Would that I have this kind of energy all the time!

After my burst of like 12K over a couple of days, I thought I was going to have to slow down a bit with Thanksgiving and all.

But I still managed to get in 1340 words on Thanksgiving Day, and today has been a super huge burst of writing. 9309 words, to be exact.

That brings me up to 40,896!

Which means I have to get a mere 9,104 in the next 52 hours. I definitely think that's doable. Hopefully, I will get it all done tomorrow.

That's my goal, anyway.

Then, I really need to concentrate on getting my Christmas story plotted and written.

In a week.

Eeek.

Yay for bursts of writing energy!!!

A quick update!

After a long week or so of no writing at all (bad, bad!), I'm off from work and am trying my best to see if I can still make it.

Over the last couple of days, I've written a little over 12K words (I think that's what the number comes out to).

My total so far is 30,247.

If I can keep up the pace over this weekend, I will make the 50K.

Now it's just figuring out how to keep up the pace. *G*

I did do my plotting, so I have my scenes all laid out. It's just a matter of sitting down and writing them.

I wanted to write more tonight, but I'm at the brain freeze point where I'm not really coherent and really need sleep.

Friday is another day, though!

Day 11

You'd think that the fact that I only write in this blog for one month out of the year would mean that I'd be more dedicated to posting in it. *snort*

So...let's see. What can I tell you about writing?

Day 9 - Nada.

Day 10 - A whopping 33 words. That was mostly 'cause I was at work and was busy.

Day 11 - I did quite a bit today. I'm still behind, mind you, but I'm not as far off as I have been. Today, so far (and likely all I'll write today), I have 2403 words.

Add that to the 33, and now my grand total so far is 14159!

Of course, I'm still over 4000 words short of where I should be, but I figure, hey! Not doing TOO bad. :)

So, that's it so far.

When I apply myself and sit down, the writing comes easily. It's getting myself to sit down that is the issue. ;)

Them's the news!

Day...uh...9?

So, I have been writing over the past couple of days, but by the time I get done, I don't feel like coming over here and posting. :)

I'm still technically behind, but only by a day. I'm hoping maybe I can make up that extra day somewhere this week.

Tuesday, the elections kind of killed any writing, and Wednesday, I'm not sure what happened there, but no writing happened.

Thursday, I wrote 1200 words and Friday, I wrote 2416. Yesterday, I wrote 2992.

I don't know what my writing will be like today. We are going to the circus. I am hoping that we'll be home in time for me to be productive and get at least one day's total in.

We shall see!

I've finished the prologue and the first chapter (and gosh that chapter went on forEVER) and I've started on the second one. I think I need to do some rough outlining or maybe fleshing out the little outlining I've already done. I kind of would like to have each of the Bob-Whites contributing something to the mystery--following some lead, etc.

And I have to kind of flesh out what I'm doing with the major subplot. Hmmm...

Anyway...that's where I am right now. So, I've got a total written of 11723 as of yesterday.

Day 3

Well, I've been doing pretty well so far!

I finished a Brian/Dan scene. I think Chapter One with this party is going to go on for a while. LOL! I seem to be doing a lot of relationship building stuff and not getting to the mystery right away.

I think once Mart deigns to show up, things will start moving a bit.

I didn't do a whole lot more than my requirement today, but it's been a very busy day. And I still have a couple more things to do before I go to bed. So, I need to stop where I am.

Word count for today: 1773
Total word count so far: 5115

I actually think this NaNo isn't going to be too bad for me. I have a roughly plotted out story, and I will have a lot of time during Thanksgiving week, as I'm taking off most of that week. :)

So, I'm hoping that this will be another winning year!

(Not to mention, getting this story written!!)

Day 2

Well, I didn't get over here for Day 1, but that is just as well, as I didn't write anything on Day 1. *grin*

Day 2 flowed really well. I didn't feel like I was really pushing myself, trying to get the words out or anything.

I finished a short prologue for the story and am a couple of pages into Chapter 1.

I expect Chapter 1 will be fairly long, as I'm writing about Brian and Honey's engagement party. (Leigh! Wedding challenge! Finally! *G*)

So, all in all, a good writing weekend. I am hopefully set to keep on track the rest of the month. Perhaps even get ahead.

Ideally, I'd like to finish this story by the end of November. I guess it will depend on how many rabbit trails I go on. Right now, other than the main story of the solution of Jared's murder, I have at least three subplots in mind. *G*

It should be fun. :)
