Part II – Services
Now we start delving into the parts of Jix that are a little less...traveled.
But they always say that it's a lot more fun to take the road less traveled by, right?
So back at the Main Menu, click on "Services".

And that, of course, will take you to the Services Menu.

Before we go further, make sure and take note of the good looking blond holding the hoe strategically in his hands. Yes, Di is admiring my manly strength. *happy sigh*
Now...where were we? Ah, yes. The services menu. This area has all sorts of golden gems of information to help you. Definitely worth a look around.

This first link is a GREAT resource for authors, wanna-be authors, and people who just like the whole subject of writing and research. Leigh (MountainHawk) has worked very hard on compiling information about all of us as well as the town we live in and what you need to know about us to write us well.
The Fan Fiction Research section has all sorts of different topics to go through. Most of these were brought up as questions on the message board at Jix by authors needing help with their research. Now you can use their questions for your benefit.
Find out about New York accents or North East colleges. Have questions about what we know about the Wellingtons? You can find out here. Or are you really hankering for a recipe for Spiced Grape Juice? Never fear. The information that you want is here. I'd definitely recommend you spend some time searching through the questions. Who knows? Someone might have already answered a question that's been burning in your brain since 3 A.M. for that fan fiction story that just NEEDS to get written RIGHT THIS MINUTE.
The Writer's Resource is for the writing side of the story. There's information about editing and posting your story at Jix. And there are also a whole wealth of links and information to help you make your story a stronger and better one by improving your writing skills.
This is one of my favorite parts on the site. I get lost in here for HOURS. And yes, I do subscribe to The Word Detective!
It's also been VERY instrumental in helping me write Cosmo McNaught and the Robot Invaders from Outer Space. I would recommend it heartily to all of you!
The pages, that is. Although my fan fiction story is quite good, if I do say so myself. ;)

A quick note here. I am NOT as short as that picture would make it seem. I think we were standing on a slope. Hmph.
This next link takes us to the links page. You wouldn't believe the information that you can get by just the click of the button.
Ever wonder why all sorts of people have "keeper of" things in their signatures on the message board? You'll find the link to the Keeper page here. Maybe you'll think of something you'd like to "keep". (My striking blue eyes are still available.)
The web creations page will give you links to all sorts of graphic sites, people who can help you with scary HTML and CSS, and even people who are willing to offer space on their sites to you should you be overcome by the urge to start a fan fiction page.
There are more "help" links here - Leigh's Mystery Medley has all sorts of goodies, Trixie Tidbits has more information about the books than you can shake a stick at, Trixie Pursuit tells you the 411 about what subjects the good people at Jix know about (and can help you with), and Carmen can answer all your questions about the different versions of the books that are available.
There's also a link to the Jix mailing list here as well as the password/ratings information not to mention links to Jix blogs, other Trixie boards...gleeps!
All provided for you in one tidy place by the folks at Jix.
Aren't they fabulous?

And last, but certainly not least is some key information about how to promote your story at Jix, whether you're an official author or not.
And see? I'm taller than Di in the picture on the right. That's more like it.
On to Part III. After this commercial break...
